姑苏城外寒山寺，

Gūsū chéng wài hán shānsì,[Gu] [Su] [city] [outside] [cold] [mountain] [temple]Outside Gusu city lies Cold Mountain Temple;

夜半钟声到客船。

yèbàn zhōng shēng dào kèchuán.[night] [half] [bell] [sound] [reach] [guest] [boat]at midnight, the sound of bells reaches the ferries.

白话译文

月亮已落下乌鸦啼叫寒气满天，

对着江边枫树和渔火忧愁而眠。

姑苏城外那寂寞清静寒山古寺，

半夜里敲钟的声音传到了客船。

Notes

Maple Bridge is a real bridge near modern 苏州市 (Suzhou).

姑苏 (Gusu) is another name for 苏州市 (Suzhou).
